Best Mallorca restaurants for the unconventionally romantic couple

The island of Majorca has it all: lively nightlife, thriving arts and culture, pristine beaches, and most importantly, an electrifying culinary scene. From typical Mallorcan seafood by the seaside to gourmet cuisine at Michelin-starred restaurants, here are our top picks of the most romantic Mallorca restaurants:

Simply Fosh

A Michelin-starred restaurant in Mallorca’s capital

Stylish, modern, and trendy, Simply Fosh is a Mallorcan gem. Set in a 17th century convent refectory, the restaurant has a unique and rustic ambience. Marc Fosh, the owner and chef, sources ingredients from local markets and turns it into exquisite, well-presented dishes. The light and modern Mediterranean cuisine boasts flavours that are clean and seasonal. If you don’t want to break the bank, try out the 3-course lunch menu for 27.50 euros (fantastic value for a Michelin-rated restaurant). The à la carte tasting menu ranges from 68 to 89 euros. The restaurant also has a great selection of wines, served by an experienced and charming sommelier.

Bens d’Avall

A romantic location with one of the best views in the world

Hanging on the edge of a cliff overlooking the ocean and Serra De Tramuntana, Bens d’Avall has one of the most beautiful views in the world. It is definitely one of the most romantic Mallorca restaurants. Chef Benet Vicens’ had a passion for gastronomy from an early age – he was only 8 years old when his parents opened the restaurant. Benet cooks with fresh, regional produce, and creates delicious and unique Balearic dishes with a French influence. The restaurant offers a delicious and tantalising menu – from suckling pig ravioli with consommé to jig-caught squid with a tomato-red pepper sauce. We recommend going for a sunset dinner, making the spectacular view even more breath-taking.

El Olivo

For a romantic ambience in an unconventional venue

El Olivo has one of the most romantic ambiences in Mallorca – it is set in a refurbished 16th century olive press, illuminated only by candlelight and soft outdoor lighting. You could dine inside the cosy, intimate restaurant or on the terrace overlooking the beautiful village of Deia. The chef, Guillermo Méndez, combines fine imported goods with local organic ingredients to create an unforgettable fine dining experience. Their 7-course tasting menu will seduce you, with dishes like a parfait of foie gras wrapped in fig bread, and wild sea bass roasted with lemon herbs and a calamari risotto.

Restaurant Mandala

A secluded restaurant surrounded by mountains

Tucked away in the mountain village of Orient, Restaurant Mandala is a hidden gem in the heart of the charming village. Surrounded by mountains, and situated on a steep road, the restaurant is not the easiest place to find – but it’s definitely worth the venture. The cuisine is a fusion of Mallorcan, French, and Asian influences, with dishes like Thai prawn curry, crispy vegetable samosas, and tartlet with pears in a red wine and mascarpone sauce. The restaurant is small compared to other fine Mallorca restaurants, but it also has a romantic outdoor terrace overlooking the mountains. Take a romantic stroll or cycle through the hills of Orient, and reward yourself with exotic food and superb service.

Café Parisien

Enjoy great food in a romantic garden

With abundant grapevines decorating the courtyard walls, Café Parisien is a quaint little place in Arta, a small town in the north-eastern area of the island. Precious fairy lights and vine trees beautify this old Mallorcan house and gives it a relaxed, French ambience. More than just an eatery, Café Parisien also offers eclectic jazz evenings, with interesting cocktails made by a creative mixologist. The cuisine has French influences, which could be refreshing if you want a break from Spanish cuisine. You can enjoy meals like Entrecôte with rosemary potatoes and a glass of gin from their extensive gin collection.
