Planning a family holiday? There are plenty of fun family activities in Majorca – from splashing around at water parks and beaches, to marveling at castles and caves. With so many free things to do on this sun-drenched island, you can easily have a cost-effective holiday. But for the times you want to live large, here are a few activities that are definitely worth the price tag:
Dine at a Michelin-star restaurant
Gastronomy is a fundamental part of Majorca’s culture – from tapas bars to Michelin starred restaurants. Majorca has seven Michelin starred restaurants – which is an impressive feat for an island. Marc Fosh in Palma, owned by the British chef of the same name, offers a mix of modern, creative, and Mediterranean cuisine. They have a great à la carte menu made with fresh seasonal products, as well as a tasting menu. Restaurant Jardín in Puerto Alcudia, a family-owned restaurant, puts a twist on traditional Majorcan and Mediterranean cuisine. The restaurant has two changing tasting menus, as well as an à la carte menu. Put on your finest clothes and dine in style. A list of all seven restaurants can be found here.
Go on a hot-air balloon ride
A hot-air balloon ride might be the best way to appreciate Majorca’s beauty. This way, you’ll get a bird’s-eye view of the lush landscape and shimmering sea – with the thrilling feeling of floating in the sky. You can choose from a morning flight right after sunrise, or a private sunset flight. A one-hour balloon ride goes from 160 euros per adult and 90 euros per child with Mallorca Balloons. They also offer special rides, including a flight over the Tramuntana Mountains (700 euros for two people) and a moonlight flight (600 euros for two people).
Charter a yacht
With crystal clear waters and reliable weather, Majorca is the perfect destination for fun family activities at sea. If you want something more exciting than a boat trip, charter a yacht for the day. Yacht Life offers a range of luxury speedboats in all kinds of shapes and sizes. One of the cheapest options, the luxury yacht Sunseeker Manhattan, ranges from 1 500 euros to 2 400 euros a day (depending on the season). This includes accommodation on board, bed linen, towels, and a captain (of course). The yacht leaves Palma de Mallorca at 10:00 and returns at 18:00.
Go on a jetski safari
Experience the thrill of a high-speed jetski as you explore the north coast of Majorca. You’ll make your way to pristine coves and beaches with crystal-clear waters, passing the lighthouse of Alcanada and the “Eagles Nest” on the beach of Coll Baix, before heading towards Pollensa. The jetski ‘safari’ will allow you to see remarkable corners of Majorca such as Formentor, Cala Murta and ala Engosauba. During the stops you can take a swim, marvel at the marine life, and take pictures of the awesome surroundings. The trip is 1.5 hours long and the price ranges from 190 to 220 euros for 1 or 2 persons per jetski.
