Today in our Blog we want to talk to you about a very special friend for us. Our brand idea is based a lot on the team concept, we’ve got a fantastic sports team and a very powerful human team, people who make Ferrer Hotels possible day by day. This is why a few months ago we began to think that a great team needs to have, without any doubt, an equally great mascot.
We started to look for the perfect mascot for us, the one who fits with our values and our essence. This search finally led to a charity project, through which we managed to be as important for our mascot, as it will be for us from now.
For these reasons, today we are pleased to introduce to you "The Ferreret" the official mascot of Ferrer Hotels, which from now will join us in all our businesses.
After we, from Ferrer Hotels, got to know history of the Ferreret, his current situation and his characteristics, we knew it would be our mascot.
The Ferreret is a small toad endemic to Majorca, this means it can only be found on our island. Only in Menorca there have been found skeletal remains of Ferrerets , that inhabited the island before it was colonized by the Romans.
This peculiar Majorcan frog is characterized by being a very athletic frog. He lives in narrow canyons with vertical walls that have formed in the Sierra de Tramuntana, on the island of Mallorca, so in order to survive he has to jump, swim and climb, making it an excellent sprinter.
It is also a very frog which is very bound to family. Although he lays a few eggs, from the moment that lays them, it never leaves them alone. Until they hatch, the male Ferreret always carries them, tied with string.
With these characteristics that are so related to the values of Ferrer Hotels, like sports and family, how could we miss the opportunity to turn the Ferreret in our mascot?. And so we adopted him as our mascot, and since the Ferreret did so much for us, we also wanted to do something for him.
During the investigation about the Ferreret, we discovered that the species is listed as Endangered in the CNEA (National Catalogue of Endangered Species) since 1991. Also, his discovery was one of the most important science discoveries in Europe, in the last 25 years. For these reasons, we decided to help our mascot. From Ferrer Hotels, we will carry out a plan of Corporate Social Responsibility, with which part of the profits generated by activities sponsored or organized by Ferrer Hotels, will go to a fund for the conservation of the Ferreret specie.This will be possible thanks to an agreement with the University of the Balearic Islands.
Again, the Ferreret has proven to be made 100% to be the mascot of Ferrer Hotels since, in addition to representing us with his characteristics, it gave us the opportunity to engage actively in one of our most essential values: the conservation and respect of our beloved island, Mallorca.
