The Powerman Mallorca Duathlon is one of the most recognised and demanding world duathlon tests – and Ferrer Hotels is proud to be the main sponsor and organizer of the Spanish race. It will take place for the second consecutive year in the beautiful Can Picafort (Mallorca). The Powerman Mallorca duathlon, taking place on 25 February 2017, is owned and managed by the IPA, International Powerman Association, and brings the world’s best professional ‘duathletes’, as well as fans of all ages. Whether you’re participating in the Powerman Mallorca Duathlon, or merely want to be a spectator, here’s everything you need to know:
- What does the race entail?
Although the format of Duathlon, Run-Bike-Run, is simpler than the Triathlon, it is still challenging and attracts followers from all over the world. Powerman consists of a 10km Run, 60km Bike and another 10 km Run. For beginners, there’s also a shorter race: 5km Run, 30km Bike and 5km Run. And for the more adventurous and prepared, there’s a 10km Run, 120km Bike and 20km Run. The test will consist of Classic and Sprint modes on a circuit that is characterised by a stretch on foot in front of the coast, completely flat, fast and very attractive, while the cycling section runs along roads of great scenic beauty, is fast, without any port but demanding with ups and downs.
- Who can enter?
Men and women of all ages can enter, whether you’re a professional or a beginner. There’s also a Powerman Kids category called Powerkids. Kids up to the ages of 12 can enter and the race ranges from 300 metres to 1000 metres depending on your age.
- What are the awards for runners?
The first six finishers (both female and male) of the Classic Powerman race will receive a prize in cash, ranging from 100 euros to 850 euros depending on their position. There’ll also be trophies for the first three overall male and female duathletes, to the first in each category (age groups),and to the first relay team. The winner, Top1, in the CLASSIC General Category, male and female, will also win 1 week free accommodation in half-board for 2 Pax at one of the Ferrer Hotels. In addition, all participants in Powerman Classic and Sprint will receive a Finisher Medal.
